A fantastic house, lovely space and location, very recently re-furbished. Overall we were impressed but there were a few irritations that could have been easily avoided. For the most part these are not a big deal but when paying this sort of money I would expect better. I detail these below as I am sure that Interhome/the owner would like the opportunity to correct this with little effort. The bathroom for the 2 principal bedrooms leaked water down the lounge wall and through the light fittings in the lounge below. This had evidently not just started as there was mould on the wall and coving in the lounge which was evident when we arrived and should have been reported by cleaners/previous occupants. I reported this to Interhome and they had a plumber round very quickly. This appeared to fix the main problem but we still had the occasional small pool of water appearing on the lounge floor, though it was unclear where this came from. The kitchen has been fitted out to a high standard in terms of cooker, fridge, etc. The non-stick pans for the induction hob were badly scratched and damaged by previous occupants as the only cooking utensils supplied are metal and not fit for use on these pans. The kitchen knives were super-cheap, bendy, blunt and useless, which is pretty normal for rented accommodation but I would expect better for this price. There was a ridiculously tiny free-standing barbecue on which it would be difficult to grill for two. This for a house that sleeps 12! There was a built in chimney in the bar but no grills or supports or utensils for it. One of the doors from the lounge to the terrace would not close properly. The terrace was surrounded by pots planted with geraniums, etc. For the most part these were pretty much dead through lack of water and several of the pots were empty, which detracted from what would otherwise have been a lovely space. A gardener arrived towards the end of our stay, planted up the empty pots and replaced some of the dead plants.There is an auto-watering system but it only comes on for a few seconds a day so I doubt these will fare any better than the others. There are no instructions for anything whatsoever and so we had to experiment with the alarm system, the security controls, the kitchen equipment, etc. it took some time even to figure out which switches worked which lights, only finding out how to switch the pool lights on after a few days. Interhome provide a 'welcome pack' which contained a cloth, a scouring pad, a tea towel, a bin bag, a small piece of soup and a small sachet of washing up liquid ! I don't really expect to have to go out and buy basic cleaning products and equipment on the first day of a holiday. I would have thought, for example, that soap for the hand basins in each bathroom (there are 5 of them) might have been provided. Bedrooms 1 to 4 are actually only accessible from the terrace behind the house and to access them one has to pass through the main part of the house or via the side gates. This isn't apparent from the description on the website. It wasn't a problem for us but I can see that it would be difficult for people to access the house facilities or their rooms if they have gone places separately and the house is locked up, as there were only two keys for the house main door provided and one for the side gates. On the whole we had a great time in a great house. I suspect a lot of the above issues are due to the recent refurb, teething problems, and perhaps not many others have stayed since it was completed, but that is what prevents me from giving this an 'excellent'.
