Vakantiehuis Le Merle Blanc ★★★★
Zwitserland, Wallis, Ovronnaz
Our first trip to the Alps. We are a family of 3, boy aged 13. We took a flight to Geneva and rented a car for a week. The shortest route took us to visit the south shores of Lake Geneva on French side. Small roads and lots of small towns with great views and good food.
Back to Switzerland and Alp sceneries. It was easy to find our way to Ovronnaz using a navigator which is a real must there. The navigator didn't know the given address of Interhome office but the simple town name guided us just past it. The lady at the office was very polite and serviced us in english and even guided us to the chalet with her car.
Everything there was as good as advertised. We were prepared for colder weather too but the weather in the end of June was just perfect, day temperatures 20-30 °C and occasional rain showers only. There are couple of quite well prepared shops for your needs in the village. The bedrooms are located on ground level and stay cool to give you easy sleep. The living room offers lots of space and even the shades on windows and marquise are electrically operated. The kitchen has all facilities you could expect and there are also several restaurants of various kinds nearby.
The ThermAlp Spa is worth a visit or even more. And don't forget to take a chairlift up from the village and do some hiking where you can still see and walk on snow on some routes. There is also a free Wi-Fi connection in the chalet to keep you connected (if you need that on your holiday). The motorway on the valley takes you fast to the other places in Valais. So this chalet serves as a perfect base for exploring the Swiss Alps, or for just a peaceful holiday staying in the village. Easy to recommend!
